Bring your library card with you each time in order to check out items or to use a computer. Library cards are mailed in order to verify the address. There is a fee of $1.50 to replace a card.
New patrons are limited to two items per name on their library card and no inter-library loans until a satisfactory borrowing record has been established.
Persons 18 years or older applying for a library card are requested to give their name, address, home and business phone numbers, to show a photo I.D., and to sign the library card.
Persons under 18 years of age applying for a library card are requested to give their name, address, phone number, and year of birth. A parent or guardian must co-sign for the student; showing a photo I.D. if not a library patron. The co-signer is ultimately responsible for any charges accrued on the student’s card; both the student’s and co-signer’s library privileges can be revoked.
A “Culbertson Public Library System’s Computer and Internet Access Policy” must be signed before a person may use this library’s public access computers. Students need to have their policy co-signed by a parent/guardian.
Books are checked out for 30 days unless they are in high demand. Magazines, information files, videos, and DVD’s are checked out for 7 days. Audio cassettes, CD’s, and high demand books are checked out for 14 days. (See chart)

You may renew most material once provided it has not been reserved. Items are renewable by phone or online.
Books, audio cassettes, CD’s, DVD’s, magazines, videos, and information files have an overdue fine of $0.10 per day. There is a maximum fine of $5.00 per item. There are no charges accrued on days that the library is not open to the public. Patrons with fines that exceed $10.00 will have their library privileges suspended. The patron will be deleted from the system after one year if fines are not paid in full.
Patrons will be mailed a total of three notices when material is overdue. When the third notice is sent, they will be billed for the replacement cost of the material plus overdue fines. Their library privileges will be suspended until the overdue material is returned, or paid for if lost, and all fines paid. If not paid in full, these patrons will be deleted from the system after one year. In order to be reinstated, all charges must be paid with the addition of a $5.00 reinstatement fee.
You may place a reserve on any item; we will notify you when it is available.
If you do not find what you are looking for, ask a librarian to help you. There may be other material in our collection that can be used or inter-library loan is available. Inter-library loan is available if you have a valid library card with no fines owing and are off the new patron status. Usually there is no charge for this service; however, there is a $5.00 charge for any inter-library loan not picked up.
Our staff checks for damage each time an item is returned. You will be charged for damage that occurred while it was checked out to you. Please, do not attempt to mend torn pages, etc. We have special materials we use for mending. Please, tell us when accidents happen. Some items are damaged enough to warrant notification by mail. Patrons have one month from the date of notification to come in and view the damaged item(s). After that the item(s) will be cleaned, glued, or replaced.
The librarians are available to answer your questions and to assist you in locating information. We also provide telephone reference service.
